PATHWAYS
Melanie Lam In a culture that encourages maximization and efficiency, I have been taught to value results over the process, and arrival over traveling. To counter this societal distortion, my concentration aims to capture the commonly unacknowledged significance of transitional phases whether in location, time, or even life stages. This focus on pathways and "the now" serve as an important reminder that often the journey can be more important than the destination. I focused on experimenting with extreme perspectives, tones and varying degrees of detail to convey distance and the contrast between the known and unknown. |
