Consequences of Social Media On Childhood Innocence
Joanna Li Growing up in a time when social media is extremely prevalent, I explored the connection between social media and the loss of childhood innocence. I observed my younger siblings and friends, while also reflecting on my own experiences related to social media. While completing each piece, I made sure to present the emotional consequences of social media, such as developing body dysmorphia, insecurities, and almost “drowning” in endless unrealistic expectations. Pattern is an element of art I used in my works. From repeating bubbles, tvs, people, these patterns connect the digital world with the natural world. Computer programming is a pattern and nature follows a pattern. Patterns can also be interpreted as addiction, related to a social media addiction. |
